Was funny a few years ago good to see it return.
Beavis and Butt-head” — the show that celebrated the slacker way of life...
My personal blog of stuff from my life. Live near and love Bristol indeed I think to rephrase that old quotation "If you are tired of Bristol you are tired of life"

Radio 4 - Very Funny - The Secret World
Al Pacino, a crazed conspiracy theorist, is stalking John Humphrys.
David Beckham wants to buy a rainbow from film director James Cameron. Alan Bennett responds to all junk mail with a personally crafted letter. Richard Dawkins tries to join Amy Winehouse as a backing singer. Then he tries to join Chas of Chas and Dave. These are the strange and covert stories which unfold during the course of one day.
Surely John Inman and Morrissey could never appear in the same scene. Well, they do. Sort of. This is a new kind of impression show.

Andrew Marr and "End of the news romantics"
Really good piece from Andrew Marr. Like his second paragraph, very fluent use of English!
"For those brought up in the pre-digital era it's easy to lament the switch from prized paper to touchscreen ubiquity. But, in the first of a series about innovation, Andrew Marr says the future will be truly liberating for those who want to keep up with events.
An unwieldy, arthritic and entirely unlikely hummingbird, I have been hovering on the cusp - on the luscious cusp, that is, of leaving the old news system and joining the new."

Soundtrack for the Day? Jennifer Warnes - First We Take Manhattan
Leonard Cohen & Jennifer Warnes - First We Take Manhattan
Lyrics to First We Take Manhattan:
They sentenced me to twenty years of boredom
For trying to change the system from within
I'm coming now, I'm coming to reward them
First we take Manhattan, then we take Berlin
I'm guided by a signal in the heavens
I'm guided by this birthmark on my skin
I'm guided by the beauty of our weapons
First we take Manhattan, then we take Berlin
I'd really like to live beside you, baby
I love your body and your spirit and your clothes
But you see that line there moving through the station?
I told you, I told you, told you, I was one of those
Ah you loved me as a loser, but now you're worried that I just might win
You know the way to stop me, but you don't have the discipline
How many nights I prayed for this, to let my work begin
First we take Manhattan, then we take Berlin
I don't like your fashion business mister
And I don't like these drugs that keep you thin
I don't like what happened to my sister
First we take Manhattan, then we take Berlin
I'd really like to live beside you, baby ...
And I thank you for those items that you sent me
The monkey and the plywood violin
I practiced every night, now I'm ready
First we take Manhattan, then we take Berlin
I am guided
Ah remember me, I used to live for music
Remember me, I brought your groceries in
Well it's Father's Day and everybody's wounded
First we take Manhattan, then we take Berlin

Leonard Cohen - So long, Marianne
Immersed in this today, on the laptop, what wonderful, aching, lyrics.
(from the album 'SONGS OF LEONARD COHEN')
Come over to the window, my little darling,
I'd like to try to read your palm.
I used to think I was some kind of Gypsy boy
before I let you take me home.
Now so long, Marianne, it's time that we began
to laugh and cry and cry and laugh about it all again.
Well you know that I love to live with you,
but you make me forget so very much.
I forget to pray for the angels
and then the angels forget to pray for us.
Now so long, Marianne, it's time that we began ...
We met when we were almost young
deep in the green lilac park.
You held on to me like I was a crucifix,
as we went kneeling through the dark.
Oh so long, Marianne, it's time that we began ...
Your letters they all say that you're beside me now.
Then why do I feel alone?
I'm standing on a ledge and your fine spider web
is fastening my ankle to a stone.
Now so long, Marianne, it's time that we began ...
For now I need your hidden love.
I'm cold as a new razor blade.
You left when I told you I was curious,
I never said that I was brave.
Oh so long, Marianne, it's time that we began ...
Oh, you are really such a pretty one.
I see you've gone and changed your name again.
And just when I climbed this whole mountainside,
to wash my eyelids in the rain!
Oh so long, Marianne, it's time that we began ...

The Naked Blonde Writer - Powerful Welsh fiction
Interesting book Blackout, about the Valley communities in South Wales. Very powerful and emotionally charged writing. If I was a TV exec somewhere I would definately be asking her to do the screenplay!
Also its a good example of using social media marketeting where you can get a lot of bang for your bucks! No jokes about that please.....
Tracy is also on Facebook as well: http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Naked-Blonde-Writer/200485810980.

How to Kill a PC (with MS Vista)
Was just round someones house fixing their Dell laptop. Reminded me how much I hate Vista! Slow, too graphical and killed the laptop performance.
Found he had had no anti-virus (like that for 2 years) so installed the FREE AVG software http://free.avg.com/gb-en/download-avg-anti-virus-free, defragged his hard disk, installed the FREE registry and PC housekeeping programme http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download and that was it!
Separately he needs a RAM upgrade as with 1gb of RAM he had 90% used by the 65 odd processes he had running.
Also he has not backed it up for 3 years. Will help with that as well.
All standard PC housekeeping tasks but necessary all the same.

Government Budget Cuts
Certainly very worrying for any consultant or business supplying public sector clients. Currently thinking about marketing strategy!
